IT’S OUR MONEY: INVESTING IN PUBLIC BANKING

Our group hosted a symposium on November 7, 2015, 8:30 am – 12:30 pm, at First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM  87110.  The symposium focused on what Public Banking is and why it could benefit us now.

Among others, speaking at the symposium were Vern Hagen, Co-Founder of Banking on Central New Mexico and former Director of the City of Albuquerque Planning Department; Jerry Ortiz y Pino, New Mexico State Senator; Nichoe Lichen, Board Member of the Public Banking Institute; Curt Johnson of Santa Fe, former Chairman of the South Dakota Investment Council; Diane Gibson, Albuquerque City Councilor; Sharon Henderson, Vice President of Prosperity Works; and Angela Merkert, Executive Director of CLNkids. These city, county, and community leaders want change in funding our infrastructure and human services needs.
